Mac-NBOView 1.0 for Macintosh OSX
What is Mac-NBOView?
Mac-NBOView 1.0 (Item 4c on the order form) is a launch-ready
binary-executable (.exe) version of the NBOView 1.0 Orbital
Graphics Plotter program for Mac users (Mac OSX10.4.10). It is functionally
equivalent to the PC-Windows .exe version (Item 4b). Like
other NBOView 1.0 implementations, it uses
PLOT keyword output from any reasonably current version
of the Natural Bond Orbital program
(NBO 4.0/4.M/5.0/5.G, but not "NBO 3.1").
What Does Mac-NBOView Do?
The program creates a variety of 1d (amplitude profile),
2d (contour plot), and 3d ("photographic" surface image)
graphical displays of orbitals of both delocalized and localized
types, including ordinary AOs/MOs as well as the entire heirarchy
of highly recognizable and transferable natural localized orbitals
(NAOs, NHOs, NBOs, NLMOs and pre-orthogonal counterparts). The
program offers a rich variety of options
for composite 1d/2d/3d diagrams of vitually unlimited
visual characteristics
(see NBOView Manual).
What Does Mac-NBOView Require?
Mac-NBOView requires a Mac OSX10.4.10 platform, started from
the Unix shell, with X11 terminal emulation. It also requires
the standard PLOT keyword output files from a previous NBO5 run
on the species whose orbitals are to be displayed.
What special documentation is provided with Mac-NBOView?
Aside from the Safari-ready Manual and .exe
program file, the Mac-ready CD includes a "readme.txt" file with
instructions on acquiring the X11 download (if necessary),
entering the Unix shell, and launching the program from a
folder containing valid PLOT files.
