Acknowledging CIC mass spectrometers in publications, proposals, and reports
Researchers that use instruments acquired with National Institutes of Health (NIH) funds must list the NIH grant number in the acknowledgement section of any manuscript that contains data from the instruments and must submit the final, peer-reviewed manuscript to NIH's Pub Med Central (PMC) database. All spectra coming from the CIC Mass Spectrometry Facility have the name of the instrument that generated them printed on them. Currently the only mass spectrometer acquired with NIH funds is the Bruker ULTRAFLEX® III.If any mass spectrometry data is used in a manuscript, then the content of one or more of the following sentences needs to be in the acknowledgement section:

The Shimadzu LCMS-2010A was purchased in 2000 with funds from a Keck grant, a Shimadzu grant, and the Chemistry Department.
The Shimadzu GCMS-QP2010S purchase was funded by the Department of Chemistry in 2008.
