Rhenium Dimer

We have developed a synthesis of very reactive metal-metal double bonds and are studying their reactions.
For example, C5Me5(CO)2Re=Re(CO)2C5Me5 reacts with H2 at -78oC to produce C5Me5(CO)2Re(µ-H)2Re(CO)2 C5Me5. We have uncovered a myriad of interesting products from reactions with alkynes.
