What's "SA-ACS?"

The American Chemical Society is the largest professional organization in the world with over 160,000 members, serving those involved in the chemical sciences. As a degree is required for full membership, the Student Affiliate chapters provide undergraduates with the opportunity to be involved with ACS. We are primarily a chemistry organization, but all majors are welcome to join!

I am a senior at UW Madison, pursuing a degree in chemistry with a minor in astronomy, with hopes to go to graduate school as an astrochemist.  I am active in both ACS and AXE at UW Madison, as well as working on a research project measuring the distribution of aromatic hydrocarbons in the Milky Way Galaxy.  Particularly interesting to me are planetary science, astrochemistry, radiochemistry, inorganic chemistry, and group theory.  Outside of school, besides being an amateur astronomer and chemist (I’m currently working on a spectroscopic study of planets and emission nebulae), I also have an interest in rally racing (team Subaru), and photography (mostly landscapes).  The periodic table display in the photograph is my own, and contains samples of 88 of the 92 naturally occurring elements- this was my senior project in highschool.
