The Fulbright Scholar Program

1999-2000 Grants for U.S. Faculty and Professionals.

The Fulbright Scholar Program offers grants for lecturing and research in more than 120 countries. Opportunities are available in nearly every discipline and specialization. Faculty in all academic ranks and at all types of institutions are eligible to apply. Fulbright awards range in duration from two months to an academic year. Starting dates vary and many are flexible to accommodate the needs of the grantees. Applicants must be U.S. citizens (permanent residency is not sufficient) and hold the Ph.D. or appropriate terminal degree in their field, or have equivalent professional experience and recognized standing. The Fulbright Program is funded and administered by the United States Information Agency. Financial Support is also provided by participating governments and by the host institutions in the United States and abroad. The presidentially appointed J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board formulates policy guidelines and makes the final selection of all grantees.
