Graduate Paths

There are seven paths, or areas of specialization, within the Department of Chemistry. Follow the links for more detailed information about each path. On their application, students must rank the paths based on their strongest current research interest, where 1 indicates the preferred path. Faculty in this path will evaluate the student's application. However, students may change paths once in the program. Students are also encouraged to collaborate with faculty members in additional paths or even in other departments.

Students granted admission to the Department of Chemistry are invited to visit UW-Madison for 3 days in January, February, or March to learn more about the program and department.  Information is sent to students following admission to the chemistry graduate program.

The chemistry education research (CER) path site is under construction.  Please view Prof Sam Pacizni and Prof Sam Stowe research sites for information.
