ACS POLICY FELLOWSHIPS
Matt Windsor wants to get the word out about a fellowship opportunity. Every year, the American Chemical Society selects two fellows to work as staff in Congress and one fellow to work at ACS headquarters. It's a great opportunity for scientists interested in politics and public policy, but not many people know that it exists.
Become a Public Policy Fellow and Make a Difference in Washington, D.C. Science and technology are increasingly important in public policy. From environmental sustainability to homeland security, policy-makers routinely make decisions that require input from and have impact on the chemical community. Yet few policymakers have backgrounds in science and engineering, and scientists often lack the opportunity and expertise to successfully engage in the policy process. The ACS Public Policy Fellowship Program is designed to address both these concerns. The programs provide a unique opportunity for ACS members to gain practical experience and insights into public policy by working in Washington, D.C for Congress or ACS.
Application deadline: January 15.
     •    1 year fellowship on Capitol Hill
     •    1-2 year fellowship with ACS External Affairs & Communications
     •    Ph.D. or equivalent experience
     •    Competitive stipends
     •    Relocation expenses and health coverage available
     •    Application deadline: January 15 for fellowships beginning the following September

One year can change your life! Apply now.  Interested applicants can also find more information at: www.acs.org/policyfellow.
