MINOR AGREEMENT FORMS: The Graduate School requires that the minor program be outlined in an agreement which is approved by the Department no later than halfway through completion of the sequence minor courses. The minor requirement must be completed by the end of the third year of graduate school. Minor agreement forms are available in Room 7315.

Scientific Instrument Sales - NMR, Sales Scientist to join our NMR sales and applications department. As an assistant to the Sales Manager, main duties will include handling telephone enquiries, preparing quotations, liaison with applications scientists, advising customers on site requirements, ancillary equipment, etc. Products involved will include complete NMR systems, accessory items, upgrades, NMR software, etc. Candidates must be able to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of NMR instrumentation, be qualified to ordinary degree or HNC/HND level in a science subject (preferably chemistry) and be self-motivated with a will to succeed. The Department of Chemistry of The University of British Columbia is seeking to fill a tenure-track opening at the assistant professor level starting 1 July 1999. This appointment is in the general area of inorganic chemistry. This position requires a Ph.D. degree, postdoctoral experience preferably, and a proven research track record. Ralph N. Adams Distinguished Professorship in Chemistry, University of Kansas. Applications and nominations are invited for a newly established Distinguished Professorship in Chemistry. The successful candidate must bring an impressive history of research accomplishment recognized at the international level, a strong record of external grant funding, and a strong interest and skill in both graduate and undergraduate teaching. State University of New York-New Platz. Assistant Professor, Biochemistry: Full time tenure track position. The successful applicant will have the required background to teach courses in biochemistry and contribute to instruction in: Organic Chemistry, the analysis of biological materials, and related technologies in an ACS approved undergraduate curriculum and an MS program. Evidence of doctoral research in these areas is required and post doctoral work is highly desirable. Experience in chromatographic/MS techniques is considered valuable to support growing areas of science and engineering cooperation. Assistant Professor. The Department of Chemistry at SUNY-Geneseo (a highly selective, liberal arts college devoted to quality undergraduate instruction) seeks applications for a tenure track position in the area of biochemistry starting Fall 1999. Requirements include a Ph.D. in biochemistry or related area, research interests that are suitable for undergraduate student involvement, and a demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching. As the department currently has expertise in the area of DNA chemistry, preference will be given to candidates with other research interests. Teaching responsibilities will be in the areas of biochemistry, organic and introductory chemistry. University of Minnesota. Postdoctoral/Visiting scientist positions in chemical engineering, chemistry and neural science. Two positions are available for postdoctoral fellows with training in chemistry, chemical engineering, bioengineering or neural science to work on an interdisciplinary project. The project entails designing, synthesizing, and derivatizing adhesion molecules and growth factors for localized immobilization on surfaces or in 3-D structures to elicit cellular responses such as cell adhesion, migration and neurite extension. It is anticipated that the research of one position will entail restore chemical synthesis and characterization and the other will focus on neuronal cell behavior; however, it is expected that both will actively participate in every aspect of the project. Successful candidates will have research skills in at least one discipline involved and a strong desire to engage in interdisciplinary research. The appointment is for up to two years.
