Congratulations to Dr. Tony Jacob

Congratulations to Dr. Tony Jacob who received the 1999 Norman Bassett Award for Outstanding Achievement in Student Services. This award comes with a certificate, plaque and a $500 check from the Student Personnel Association. It not only acknowledges his day-to-day contributions over the past 8 years at the Chemistry Learning Center, but also his work with larger campus initiatives such as creating a "peer mentor tutor" program for majors and honors students in chemistry and physics. The certificate (in part) reads:

"As a teacher, facilitator, tutor, colleague and summer program director, Tony Jacob has enriched all who have come in contact with him. Attentive to day-to-day concerns of students, he also provides vision and leadership to larger campus initiatives. He directs a lab program in chemistry each summer for minority middle school youths. He has lent expertise in developing faculty workshops on issues of gender and diversity in the classroom. He has worked to help students learn and appreciate chemistry at all levels ..."

Congratulations Tony!!
