ATTENTION GRADUATE STUDENTS

********************

IMPORTANT DATES:

MINOR AGREEMENT FORMS: The Graduate School requires that the minor program be outlined in an agreement which is approved by the Department no later than halfway through completion of the sequence minor courses. The minor requirement must be completed by the end of the third year of graduate school. Minor agreement forms are available in Room 7315.

********************

IF YOU EXPECT TO GRADUATE IN SPRING: Students expecting to graduate in Spring should be aware that new rules concerning the tuition waiver may affect them. Students must be appointed an average of 33.3% through the date of filing their thesis in order to qualify for the tuition waiver. If you do not expect to complete your defense and file with the graduate school by January 15, 1999, and you will not have an appointment which qualifies you for the tuition waiver, then you should plan on paying tuition for Spring, which for a non-resident dissertator was $932 this semester.

Wittenberg University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Physical Chemistry beginning August, 1999. The initial teaching assignment for the first year will include the two junior-level courses in physical chemistry, two sections of general chemistry, and participating in advising the Junior/Senior Seminar program. Competitive start-up funds will be available to encourage the development of collaborative research projects with undergraduates. It is expected that successful candidates will seek external funding to support research. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Chemistry, preferably with a concentration in physical chemistry. Candidates who are finishing the Ph.D. are welcome to apply, but will be hired as Instructors if the Ph.D. is not granted by August 15, 1999. During 1999-2000, Wittenberg will be hiring a Visiting Assistant Professor to teach sections of Organic Chemistry (Chem201, Fall semester), General Chemistry (Chem 162, Spring semester), and to participate in advising the Junior/Senior Seminar program. Contact hours will be 6 hours lecture and 8 hours lab in each semester. The opportunity for research with undergraduates will be available. Preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. in organic chemistry. To apply send resume, transcripts, a statement of teaching philosophy, and three letters of recommendation to: Dr. David C. Finster, Chair, Chemistry Department, Wittenberg University, P.O. Box 720, Springfield, Ohio, 45501. Review of applications will begin January 15, 1999, with the position in Physical Chemistry being processed first.
