The Organic Chemistry Laboratory

The Organic Chemistry Stockroom

The stockroom is a vital component of the Organic Chemistry Laboratory. This is where the chemicals and different kinds of glassware are kept. All items other than those found in the students' drawers can be checked out from the stockroom when needed for a particular experiment. The solutions and reagents for the experiments used by the students are also prepared in the stockroom. Locker and drawer assignments and check-in/check-out information could also be obtained from the stockroom.

Organic Chemistry Equipment

The images you wil see in the following pages are some of the common pieces of glassware used in the organic chemistry laboratory. Most of these items are found in the organic chemistry apparatus kit which is separate from the common lab desktop equipment that you have used in the general chemistry laboratory such as beakers, erlenmeyer flasks, test tubes, graduated cylinders, thermometer, pipets, spatula, liquid transfer funnels, stir bars, forceps, etc.

Safety in the Laboratory

Safety is always a major concern in any working environment. Here are a couple of things to know about working safely in a laboratory setting.
